For one of our women’s wear brands in Europe - Scotch & Soda -, we are currently seeking a talented and passionate senior designer with a focus on women's wovens.

Position Overview:

As a Senior Women's Wear Designer (Soft wovens – Dresses, Tops and skirts) for Scotch & Soda, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our team of designers in the 'whole wovens' category. Your creativity, attention to detail, and passion for fashion will contribute to the development of our women's wear collections.

The ideal candidate will have a confident design vision with a strong understanding of pattern cutting and garment construction, draping on the stand as well as more structured tailoring. They will lead the development of silhouette, fabric/ trims, building out concepts briefed by the Design Director, ensuring clear storytelling and themes fitting within the brand.

You will report directly to the Designer Director and will mentor a junior designer who will be shared across the whole woven category.



Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:

  • Contribute to the entire design process, from concept, fabric development, proto handover, fittings and production finalization.
  • Researching and identifying trends that work within the brand strategy, translating these into products that aline with the seasonal concept direction.
  • Develop design concepts through research, vintage sourcing, drape, textile manipulation and other relevant experimentations.
  • Working to the Divisional Calendar to meet deadlines.
  • Be able to work to a commercial Range Plan each season, collaborating with the Merchandising team on market needs, essential product, and seasonal newness.
  • Preparing all sketches for divisional presentations and responsible for the follow up of each style.
  • Prepare sketches and detailed tech packs to hand over to product development team, ensuring all design elements and garment construction details are clearly communicated and resolved.
  • Working closely and communicating daily on challenges and changes that arise during the development of styles. Partner with the Product Developer to ensure a smooth work flow each season.
  • Understanding and sourcing qualities, trims and details that fit in the Scotch and Soda aethetic.
  • Work closely with the Design Team to align design aesthetics, seasonal details, and creative big ideas.
  • Attend and lead fittings, collaborating with product developer to ensure design intention, silhouette and proportion is correctly executed and fit comments are communicated, with consideration of wearability, sales commerciality and production capability.

  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
  • A strong portfolio and 5+ years of experience in fashion design, showcasing experience in soft woven women's wear
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adober Illustrator for digital design work
  • High level fabric knowledge of woven qualities, plus a strong technical understanding of silhouette, construction and finishings.
  • Strong trend awareness and ability to translate trends into commercial designs as well as the skills to convey design concepts effectively.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
